Electrochemical Technologies Ibon Odriozola, working at the CIDETEC Center, made a new polymer. This material can be used in many areas in the near future. The so-called terminator polymer was obtained with an elastomeric alloy in the urea-producing structure. The complex molecules in the structure can instantly connect with each other and improve themselves. It does not require any catalyst or reaction to be interposed. The polymer material cut with the knife shows a 97% improvement when waiting 2 hours in the room temperature.

Metatez Reaction is a reaction that allows this material to recombine. So, Odriozola gave the name of the Terminator Polimer to the material he discovered. This is a reference to the Terminator 2: Judgment Day filminin Antagonist character T-1000. The more damage the T-1000 gets, the better it can heal itself. According to initial disclosures, as long as it is not cut or broken twice.

The polymer can cure itself in 2 hours.

This technology has an interesting potential. This material, which can be used in plastic parts, can extend the service life of the devices. The new aim of the research group is to obtain a harder version of the polymer in this soft structure. Thus, the field of use will also increase. Terminator Polymer has a soft and spongy structure but can not be torn off by hand. So the resistance level is quite high.

This substance, which can heal itself, can also be used in medical fields. A small implant operation can be performed in order for the body to recover itself after simple operations or to keep the bacteria away.
